Ayn Rand (1905-1982)

Among Ayn Rand's books glorifying capitalism and the crassist form of bourgeois philosophy is the one called The Virtue of Selfishness. That should tell you pretty much all about her and her philosophy that you need to know.

Ayn Rand wrote much nonsense on virtue
Which she claimed would certainly hurt you
    Unless it is selfish
    She said in her elfish
But sinister scheme to pervert you.
    —JSH, "Moral Perversion"

Ayn Rand produced a lot of books
Whose viewpoint seems just right to crooks.
The gist inside their covers:
"Get yours; screw all the others."
    —JSH, "Ayn Rand"

Ayn Rand's philosophy is so ridiculous that it is almost its own self-parody:

And now I see the face of god,
and I raise this god over the earth,
this god whom men have sought since men came into being,
this god who will grant them joy and peace and pride.
This god, this one word: I
    —Ayn Rand, Anthem (1946)
